Battle Of The Fittest

Why Battle of The Fittest

“Top athletes around the country will be selected from the qualifyings to compete at the finals in october. The number of athletes will be announced next week”. Athletes taking part in powerlifting and weightlifting need to be true to their body weight. Any change in their body weight with a difference of 3 kgs will be disqualified at the finals.

Three categories of this competition are weightlifting, powerlifting, and Metcon(circuit).
These are individual events which will have a winner and a runner up but it also has one more award for the "SUPER ATHLETE".
A super athlete is the one who plays all three events and wins based on the point system.
This is to encourage athletes to look outside their main sport and try and train for being good at the other sports as well.

Weightlifting is made of the 2 main lifts
  1. The clean and jerk, The clean and jerk is a composite of two weightlifting movements, most often performed with a barbell: the clean and the jerk. During the clean, the lifter moves the barbell from the floor to a racked position across the Deltoids, without resting fully on the Clavicles. During the jerk the lifter raises the barbell to a stationary position above the head, finishing with straight arms and legs, and the feet in the same plane as the torso and barbell.

  2. The snatch, The snatch is the first of two lifts contested in the sport of weightlifting (also known as Olympic weightlifting) followed by the clean and jerk. The objective of the snatch is to lift the barbell from the ground to overhead in one continuous motion.

For the circuit event

The workouts will be made based on time (least time taken to complete a certain circuit) or for Max reps/rounds (total number of rounds completed within a certain time limit)

  1. For both the weightlifting and powerlifting events each athlete will be given 3 attempts to get to their Max weight.

  2. A certain range of motion has to be achieved while attempting the movement. If the ROM is not up to satisfaction by the judge, the athlete gets a warning and this warning lift is considered as a lift out of the three.

  3. If an athlete fails at a lift he or she is allowed to drop the weight and try again provided it is within his three lifts.

  4. The total of his three lifts are added up and divided by his body weight. That is his score for that event.

  5. Same goes for weightlifting.
